Noise Immunity of the Modem When Operating in a Channel With a Stochastic Signal Distributed According to Tikhonov’s Law and "Non-White" Noise |

Digital technologies extend the boundaries of using mathematics in the development of new signal processing algorithms. It becomes possible to apply random variables and even random processes and, thus, move on to stochastic processes. Modem for data transmission is considered by modulation of Lyapunov characteristic function of stochastic signal, instantaneous values of which are distributed according to Tikhonov’s law. The noise immunity analysis of this modem is supplemented by solving the problem in a channel with Gaussian noise other than "white" noise. It has been found that the noise immunity of the modem depends on the phenomenon of stochastic resonance and on the mathematical expectation of noise. The potential noise immunity of the modem can be reduced, and the probability of errors increases to a value of 0.5 at any signal-to-noise ratio if the mathematical expectation of "non-white" noise varies from 0.1 to 0.8.
