Modeling of information systems based on the use of discrete and continuous distribution laws and approximation them |

An approach to the approximation of discrete and continuous laws of the distribution of random variables in the construction of models of information systems is proposed. It has been established that the highest accuracy of approximation will be provided if the mathematical expectations, variances and asymmetry coefficients of distributions are equated, and the joint asymmetry and excess coefficients for a continuous law are approximately equal to the coefficient for a discrete law. Also obtained are the expansions of the distribution laws of a discrete random variable over the orthogonal multi-members of Kravchuk, Meixner, Charlier, Chebyshev and Khan. Practical recommendations are given on the application of the obtained expansions for the approximation of the distribution laws of a discrete random variable.
