The article concerns on fiber-optic sensors which use magnetooptical Faraday effect and intended for automated manufacturing processes in electrical power engineering, electrochemistry, nonferrous metallurgy and other industries where electric currents, voltages and magnetic fields are being measured. It cites the ABB company’s experience in development fiber-optic sensors for electric currents and high voltages at electrical substations. The article also describes some of the fiber-optical sensors developed by the Ufa State Aviation Technical University.
