Measurement of Small Linear
Displacements based
on the Characteristics of a Standing Wave |

Based on the characteristics of a standing wave, the principles of constructing meters for measuring small linear displacements of various
objects are presented. The features of a standing electromagnetic wave that occurs during the interference of waves falling on the surface of
the controlled medium and refl ected from its surface are analyzed. The use of two diode sections and an autotuning method is justifi ed for
constructing displacement meters. Schematic solutions of non-contact measurements of small linear displacements are given, taking into
account the modern element base of ultra-high-frequency technology of the centimeter and millimeter wave ranges.
