Calculation of a Controlled Thermoelectric
Module for Thermal Stabilization
of Heat-Stressed Elements |

The control of the operation of a thermoelectric module in cooling mode is considered by distributing the electric current density to maintain
uniform temperature of the cold side. A mathematical model of a controlled thermoelectric module is formulated and a solution is obtained for the
distribution of electric current density along the module. A condition for the existence of a regime with a uniform temperature of the cold side has been
found. Limitations on the cooling capacity and cooling depth were obtained, provided that a uniform temperature of the cold side was maintained. The
problem of heat transfer in a turbulent heat-receiving fl ow from a controlled thermoelectric module is formulated. Within the framework of the lowReynolds k-ω turbulence model, solutions to the above problem were obtained. The connection between the obtained solutions and the temperature
distribution along the TEM at constant current is discussed.
