SOROKIN The speed and quality of PCB routing are largely determined by the quality of component placement. The challenge associated with the automatic placement of components is the need to find the option of projecting the schematic of the electrical circuit to the grid of the mounting space, which minimizes the total length of the segments that simulate connections or the total number of intersections of these segments. Methods for placing components on the PCB can be roughly divided into two groups: algorithms that create the initial placement, and algorithms that improve the existing placement. Methods of improvement mainly permutation the elements - in pairs or in a group. Despite the importance of the problem and the volume of publications on the topic, there are still no effective algorithms that provide high-quality solutions even for simplified versions of the stated problem. This is why developers often prefer not to use automatic placement software, but look for solutions manually, despite the obviously high complexity of such a task.
