Instruments and Systems: Monitoring, Control, and Diagnostics Annotation << Back Network technologies in the Library for Natural Sciences RAS activities N.E. KALENOV The Library for Natural Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences (LNS RAS) was founded in 1973. Now it is one of the largest scientific Russian information & Library center, providing information in natural sciences for about 100 academic institutions. The LNS RAS heads one of Russian largest and most developed centralized library systems (CLS) and includes 49 departments in Moscow region research institutions. The article discusses a number of modern network technology solutions aimed at improving the efficiency of library processes implemented in the LNS RAS CLS, resources and services provided by LNS RAS to its users via the Internet. The technological solutions considered include: expert acquisition system, automated processing systems for periodic and non-periodical publications, an interlibrary loan (ILL) orders processing system, a feedback data harvesting and processing system. Among the resources and services are being considered there are the following: the features of the summary electronic catalogs presented on the LNS RAS website (http://benran.ru), systems providing materials ordering in the reading rooms and by the ILL.
