Instruments and Systems: Monitoring, Control, and Diagnostics Annotation << Back Bibliometric evaluation of scientific activity: features of using basic tools V. A. TSVETKOVA, YU.V. MOKHNACHEVA The purpose of the work is to show that modern databases with elements of analytical functions (bibliometric tools) are different, the indicators of publication activity obtained on their basis cannot be compared with each other. Moreover, different information search techniques within the same database often lead to different results. The main parameters that influence the results of bibliometric indicators are considered: retrospective of information arrays, different approaches to the selection of documents for indexing into the system, incorrect data entry, the use of different methods of information search. In conclusion, the authors note that the three databases reviewed have extensive information materials, have good tools for calculating publication activity and various indicators based on them, often called analytical ones, but it is necessary to use this extensive material with great caution.
