BACHURIN The article considers existing approaches to classification of technical means to measuring instruments. Described problematic issues resulting in unfounded or erroneous attribution of technical means to measuring instruments. Analyzed properties characteristic of measuring instruments, formulated additional criteria that complement the existing definitions, compliance with which allows to identify technical means as tools for measurements.
