Electronic-controlled acousto-optic delay lines (AODL) discrete steps |

Features of the acousto-optic effect are analyzed in the context of the synthesis of electronically controlled AODL discrete action. It is shown that an electronic control of electric signals delay time in AODL direct detection can be accomplished by two methods. In the first method of signal delay time control is achieved by varying the carrier frequency elastic waves at different angles of incidence of the light beams into the aperture
of the photoelastic medium. The second method of electronic control signal delay time is realized by switching the photodetectors located in the recording plane of the deflected beam at the same angle of incidence of the light beams into the aperture of the photoelastic medium. Both methods were tested experimentally for three values of the delay time of the electrical signal. It is shown that the number of discrete values of the signal delay time may be increased by increasing the number of falling into the aperture of the photoelastic medium light beams and photodetectors. In experimental studies have been used the available industrial technical equipment and devices, made in the laboratory. A schematic diagram of the laboratory version of photodetector is given. The main results of experimental studies unequivocally confirming the effectiveness of the proposed
methods for constructing electronically controlled AODL direct detection.
