The substantiation both the necessity and the possibility of the building monitoring system development on the base of the fiber-optic sensors is given in the article. The potentialities of fiber-optic measuring instruments with respect to the range of physical and mechanical parameters and concerning the assurance of high measurement precision under operation in specific external conditions are considered. The under study building monitoring and diagnostics system is multifunctional accident prevention instrument for structures of all types. The results of investigative work over implementation of the building monitoring system are presented.
