Frequency Characteristics of Impedance of Planar and Spherical Electrode Systems in Electrically Conductive Objects

The paper presents theoretical frequency characteristics of the impedance of planar and spherical electrode systems intended for the
implementation of systems for measuring and monitoring electrically conductive thermophysical objects based on the skin effect. A special feature
of the proposed electrode systems is the use of the electrically conductive control object itself as a sensitive element for measuring and monitoring
surface temperature and heat fl ux. The low-frequency and high-frequency characteristics of the impedance of the electrode systems obtained in the
paper make it possible to evaluate and select the required confi guration of the electrode system for specifi c measurement and monitoring tasks.
Low-frequency and high-frequency characteristics of the impedance of electrode systems of various geometries are presented. The obtained
theoretical impedance characteristics were verifi ed by numerical modeling in the COMSOL Multiphysics program. The modeling results show
good agreement between the obtained theoretical frequency characteristics of the electrode systems with a relative error not exceeding 7–10% in the
frequency range of 6 decades (from 0 to 106
Hz).
