Сharging stations for electrical unmanned
aerial vehicles with vertical
take-off-and-landing based
on landing platforms
with plane-parallel open contact pads |

Within the conceptual framework of automatic service stations for recharging batteries of electrical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV)
authors consider landing platforms for such stations those are based on plane-parallel metal strips connected to a charging source so that
polarities of the strips are interlaced. On-board landing electrodes are metal tips on the ends of UAV’s supporting legs whose number and
position may be various in dependence on UAV’s design. The special distributing diode circuit provides correct connecting of on-board
landing electrodes, which contact with the landing platform strips, to the battery pole terminals. Special geometrical analysis of on-board
landing electrodes positioning was carried out. As a result, some practical recommendations on choosing acceptable configurations of
on-board landing electrodes are formulated. Such configurations have to exclude possibility of landing of all electrodes on the strips with
the same polarity. Special solutions concerning touchdown improvement are considered.
The advantages of the proposed landing platforms are: the simplicity of realization, the unnecessity of accurate UAV positioning during
landing, the possibility of service for a group of UAVs simultaneously.
