GUBSKOV Design life-cycle of distributed databases was examined, and the design stages were described in paper. The problem of fuzzy optimal designing a distributed database is formulated on the basis of the interdependence of the stages data fragmentation, data placement and choice of strategy execution query. Also, an assessment of its complexity is given. The applicability of the genetic algorithms to solve the stated problem was considered.
